Mcleodganj, apart from being a major tourist attraction, also serves the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile.The town attracts adventure seekers and seekers of spiritual enlightenment alike. The famous monastery known as Namgyal Gompa has images of the Buddha, Padmasambhava and Avalokiteshwara along with the golden prayer wheels is also located in Mcleodganj. The popular trekking trail to Triund also starts from Mcleodganj.

Daily Schedule

Day 1:

● Arrive in Kangra.
● Check-in at your accommodation.
● Visit the Kangra Fort—one of India’s oldest forts with stunning views of the valley.
● Explore the adjoining Maharaja Sansar Chand Museum to understand regional history.

Day 2:

● After breakfast, head to the revered Masroor Rock Cut Temples (UNESCO nominee, known as “Himalayan Pyramids”).
● Return via Mata Brajeshwari Devi Temple, an important Shakti Peeth site.

Day 3:

● Day excursion to Palampur (35km): visit the sprawling tea gardens and the Palampur Cooperative Tea Factory.
● Hike the easy Neugal Khad Trail for river and mountain views.
● Visit the Tashi Jong Monastery for a glimpse into Tibetan Buddhist culture.
● Evening: relax at a riverside café in Palampur.

Day 4:

● Take a half-day trek to Bir Billing (known for paragliding, scenic views).
● Stroll through the Tibetan Colony in Bir, try local momos, and visit Buddhist monasteries.
● If interested and weather permits, enjoy tandem paragliding from Billing to Bir.
● Visit the Deer Park Institute for meditation and workshops.

Day 5:

Head to nearby McLeod Ganj (if time permits): Visit Tsuglagkhang Complex (Dalai Lama Temple), Bhagsu Waterfall, and the Tibetan Museum. Shop for handicrafts at local markets.
